The second part of the course covers uncertainty and decision making under
uncertainty. The use of the Clemen book is as follows:
Chapters 1-6 and 8 are to be read by each student but will not be covered
in the lectures. The material covered in the course is up to and including
Chapter 12.
The seven assignments in the Homeworks 9-15 are based on material in
the Chapters 7-12 of Clemen. The last homework will be due on April
29, 2008.
The second project assignment is to be undertaken by the four groups set
up along the guidelines given in Project 1. This assignment is based
entirely on the contents of Clemen but cannot be taken directly from the
book. The composition of each group will change since each group must
have, at least, one member different than in the composition it had for
Project 1. The written reports are due April 29, 2008.
The Final Exam is on Friday, May 9, 2008, 1:30--4:30 p.m. You will be tested on
all the material in the course, i.e., all the parts of the Ravindran and Clemen texts
that we covered in the class. Each student is allowed to bring in five two-sided 8.5"
X 11" sheets of notes and. No cell phones nor any electronics including calculators,
no books and no notes are allowed.
