XSA-100 Programming


The Vendor Documentation is really good at showing you how to load up programs onto your XSA-100. Here are some descriptions and steps of how to test and programing your board taken from that documentaion.


Testing your XSA Board
Once you have the board installed, jumpers set at their default configurations, you can test your XSA board by using the GXxTEST utility.
  • Start GXSTEST, Start => Programs => XTOOLs => GXSTEST
  • Select the board type = XSA-100
  • Set the Port = the PC parallel port that the parallel cable in connected
  • Press Test
    • Test completes successfully, the LED digit will show a "O."
    • If the test fails an "E" will be shown and a checklist of common causes of failure will be given to you.

Downloading programs into your XSA Board
  • Start GXSLOAD, Start => Programs => XTOOLs => GXSLOAD
  • Select the board type = XSA-100
  • Set the Port = the PC parallel port that the parallel cable in connected
  • Download .BIT or .SVF files.
    • Drag and Drop the files into the FPGA/CPLD section.
    • Highlight desired program to load.
    • Press the "Load" button. NOTE: only one program file can be selected and loaded at time. Double-clicking will deselect the file and no file will be downloaded.
