Wiring Your TMS320C54x

Wiring the TMS320C54x Microprocessor supplied by the ECE 345 course is rather simple. As soon as you have setup it up once, you should not have any further problems. You should be able to obtain a TMS320C54x evaluation board from your ECE 345 lab TA. They may have you sharing one with another Group however. It is best to ask for one as soon you know that you need one, so that you will have a smaller probability of sharing.

Initial Wiring
1. With a parrallel cable connect the back of the TMS320C54x to the parrallel port of the computer.
2. Connect a standard power supply cable to the side of the TMS320C54x evaluation board to the wall power socket.

Wiring to Receive Inputs and Transmit Outputs
There are 3 ways of connecting signal inputs and outputs to the TMS320C54x evaluation board.
1. Through the ports seen on the front of the evaluation board, clearly shown in the photo above.
  • Signal inputs 1-2.
  • Signal outputs 1-6.
2. Through the serial port in the back of the evaluation board.
3. Through the digital input and output ports also located in the back of the evaluation board.
